Classic FanDuel: QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, FLEX (RB/WR/TE), DST. Balanced maximizes projected points, nudged by real Vegas game totals, real defense-vs-position matchups, real season form, and salary (the most points that fit under the cap). Doubtful and Out players are excluded from builds entirely; Questionable carries a small risk discount for that player and a boost for his same-position backups. Cash leans toward each player's real statistical floor for a safer, more repeatable score. GPP leans toward ceiling and adds a bonus for stacking your QB with his own pass-catchers, so one big offensive game lifts multiple players at once — the classic tournament move for a shot at a high score. Single game (MVP) slates have one game, 5 total roster spots โ€” 1 MVP who scores 1.5x points (at normal salary) plus 4 FLEX who can be any position, including kickers and D. Only FanDuel single-game rules are modeled right now.

Lineup rules (Classic): stacking is welcome, but never more than 3 offensive players from one team — a trio is always that team's QB plus two pass catchers (or a back) — and your defense is never matched against your own offense. If your locked players break a rule, the optimizer tells you which one to unlock.

Player pool

This week's pool, salaries, and projections are curated by The Spread โ€” load the current slate and run the optimizer on it. Uploading or hand-editing the pool is limited to the site owner.

No players yet โ€” add a few above, paste or upload a CSV, or load a sample slate to try the optimizer.

Best value board

Ranks every player in your pool by projected points per $1,000 of salary, adjusted for that player's Vegas game environment (implied team total) and for injury-driven opportunity โ€” a cheap player whose same-position teammate is out or questionable gets a value bump for the extra work he stands to see. Grouped by position by default; pick one position to see just that group. This is a research view โ€” use it to scout cheap plays and smart pivots before you build a lineup.

No players loaded yet โ€” head to Player Pool and load or add players first.

No lineups built yet. Head to the Player Pool tab, load or add players, and hit "Optimize Lineup."

โญ Top 5 Adds

Waiver Wire & Trends

This is for your regular season-long fantasy league — not the FanDuel DFS lineup builder. Trending Adds/Drops are real, live add and drop counts from Sleeper's platform, not a rostered-percentage scrape. Injuries are still covered on the Injury Report tab, so a player being hurt does not by itself put him here.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Real Add Candidates

Real add counts from Sleeper's public trending feed over the last 48 hours across their whole platform โ€” not a scrape, not last week's snapshot. Paired with real season points and the matchup they're stepping into.

❄️ Trending Drops

The same live feed, the other direction โ€” players being cut across real Sleeper leagues right now.

Want to write up your own waiver-wire column with this?

Who Do I Start?

Compare two players head to head using real data for whichever week you pick: real season PPG, a real matchup-specific weekly point projection (RotoWire via Sleeper), the game's real Vegas point total and spread, real weather at kickoff (or dome, if it's controlled climate), the real rank of the defense they're facing at their position (nflverse), recent-form trend, and where you have each of them ranked that week โ€” then a clear Start/Sit call built from all of it.

Ranking numbers come from whichever week you pick above (your own tiers from the Rankings tab). Everything else โ€” projection, total/spread, weather, and matchup rank โ€” is pulled fresh for the exact week you pick, from the real schedule and lines, independent of whatever slate happens to be loaded on Player Pool.

Season-Long Rankings

These are The Spread's published rankings for the week โ€” uploading or reordering them is limited to the site owner.

Your rankings, your tiers โ€” nothing computed or auto-generated mixed in. Upload a CSV to start a week, then drag players between tiers (or reorder within one) to match exactly how you see it. Each player shows their real opponent this week and that defense's real rank against their position (color-coded green/yellow/red) wherever they're in a slate you've loaded, so you can factor matchups in as you rank. Rankings are saved per week โ€” switch weeks with the selector above and each one keeps its own tiers. Use the position filter below for a clean position-only view across every team in your rankings โ€” it hides everyone else rather than just dimming them, and dragging still works safely without losing anyone who's filtered out.

Props Edge

Real Usage Stats

Actual 2026-season target share (WR/TE) and run share (RB) for notable players โ€” the kind of role/opportunity data that drives prop volume, matched against whoever's currently in your pool.

Every game on this week's full schedule, broken down one matchup at a time: which defense is soft, which position to attack, and the real players to target there โ€” with a live sportsbook line pulled in wherever one exists. Full League Matchup Grid

Every team's real rank defending each position over their last 5 games (1 = shuts it down, 32 = gives it up easily) โ€” the same signal behind the breakdown above, laid out across the whole league for a quick scan.

About The Spread Sports

The Spread Sports is a research home for fantasy players and sports bettors, built around one rule: every number on the page says where it came from. Real season stats, real lines from real sportsbooks, real weather, and real advanced metrics sit next to our own models and the parts you fill in yourself, and the two are never presented as the same thing.

What it's for

Football is the core: a DFS lineup optimizer, season-long tools (rankings, Tier Board, Start/Sit, Waiver Wire, Trade Analyzer), and research for bettors, including our own TD Rating for every player in every game, a live game-day injury board with opportunity ratings that show who inherits the work, player props with hit rates, and a Betting Lab with prop hit rates and defensive splits from Statyx.

Basketball and Hockey are research-first: game models that compare our numbers to the market, player pages, team and defense-vs-position breakdowns, injuries by team with opportunity ratings, and for hockey a Goal Rating for every skater plus where every team is strong and where it leaks.

Everything for bettors is built to help you make better-informed decisions, not to tell you what to bet. The Hockey "Bet Smarter" guide and the Bet Tools (odds converter, no-vig, EV, Kelly, parlay) work for any sport.

Where the data comes from

Every figure on this site is labeled as real, estimated, or unavailable, never guessed and presented as fact. Models are labeled as models. See the Help tab's "Data sources" section for the full list.

What this isn't

This is not a sportsbook. We don't take bets, hold your money, or guarantee results, and nothing here is investment or wagering advice. Models are estimates and early-season samples are small. DFS and sports betting carry real financial risk and are only for adults of legal age where they live (21+ in most U.S. states); only play with money you can afford to lose. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call or text 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-522-4700) or visit ncpgambling.org for free, confidential help.

Who's behind this

The Spread Sports is built and run by one person — not a company, not a team. I built this because I wanted the tool myself, and I'm doing my best to make your season a little more enjoyable and a little less guesswork. I keep every number as accurate and clearly labeled as I can, but mistakes happen when it's one person doing the data, the code, and everything else. If something looks wrong or you just want to say hey, email me directly at thespreadfantasy@gmail.com — I read every message myself.

DFS tab

  • Player Pool — build your slate by pasting a CSV, uploading a FanDuel export, or loading the current week's ready-made slate. When a real FanDuel export has been loaded in for the week, its salaries are official; otherwise salaries are estimated from projections and labeled as such.
  • Build for — Balanced weighs pure projection; Cash leans toward each player's statistical floor for a repeatable score; GPP leans toward ceiling and adds a stacking bonus for a QB paired with his own pass-catchers.
  • Best Value — every rostered player ranked by points per $1,000 of salary.
  • Floor / Ceiling — a statistical floor and ceiling per player, blending position-typical variance with that player's own game log, plus a Safe / Balanced / Boom-Bust tag.
  • My Lineup — two independently-built lineups plus how often each player showed up across simulated builds.

Fantasy tab

  • Projections — weekly point projections in PPR, 0.5 PPR, or standard, with actuals shown once a week is played.
  • Tier Board — drag players into S–D tiers. Pick Overall or a single position (QB/RB/WR/TE) — each is a separate, independently-saved board. "Send to Rankings" copies your tiers onto the Rankings tab.
  • Start/Sit Scorer — compares two to four players on projection, matchup, recent form vs. projection, and usage.
  • Waiver Wire — live add/drop counts from Sleeper's public trending feed.
  • Rankings — your own tiered rankings, saved per week.
  • Defense vs Position — how many points, yards, or touchdowns each defense allows per game to each offensive position. Green is a soft matchup, red is a tough one.
  • Scoreboard — how accurate the projections have actually been, week over week.

Research tab

Props Edge, Advanced, and TD Matchups are research signals built from real box-score data and real Vegas lines, with a live sportsbook line pulled in wherever one exists — Props Edge's Market Line column and TD Matchups' anytime-TD price are both real, continuously-updated prices straight from the book, not a copy or an estimate.

Props Edge's Score combines five real factors: Trend (last 5 games vs. last 10, from real box-score averages), Matchup (the opponent's rank defending that position over their last 5 games, 1 = toughest, 32 = easiest), Environment (the game's Vegas-implied team total from the real spread and over/under), Usage (real 2026 snap%, target share, or rush share for players where that data exists — high-volume roles add a point since more opportunity means a steadier floor), and Value (their real recent average measured directly against the live sportsbook line for that same stat). A score of +2 or better is a "Strong Over" lean, -2 or worse a "Strong Under." Pull up the real line in your sportsbook app, compare it to the signal here, and log your own read in My Prop Log.

Usage data isn't available for every player — it's a real, named leaderboard for the season's highest-volume players (see "Usage/snap share" and "RB rush share" under Data sources below), not something extrapolated for everyone. Players without a match just don't get that factor. Routes run and first-read rate aren't in any of the real data feeds this site is built on, so Usage and Value cover the same "who's actually getting the ball" question with real numbers instead.

Basketball, Hockey and the Betting Labs

  • NBA — Game Model (our power ratings next to the market), Players, Teams, Analytics charts, Defense vs Position, Schedule, League, Injuries by team with opportunity ratings, and a Betting Lab. Player pages show game logs, splits and prop-style trends (points + rebounds + assists).
  • NHL Games — every game with the best price at each sportsbook, our goals model next to the market, back-to-back flags and a matchup comparison. Props shows shots, goals, points and assists with last-10 bars (green hit, red missed), book vs model probability and expected value.
  • NHL Goal Research — a 0-100 goal rating for every skater in every game (shot volume, finishing, power-play role, ice time, the opposing goalie, defense vs his position, penalty kill, game environment, form), plus each team's strengths and weak spots. Players, Teams, Injuries and full player profiles round it out.
  • Opportunity ratings — on every injury page. When players are out, their targets, minutes or shots go to teammates; the rating (0-100) estimates how much extra work each healthy player inherits.
  • Betting Labs (NFL and NBA) — NFL prop hit rates (last 5, 10, 20, the season and last year), coverage defense and run defense by lane; NBA usage shock (who gains when a teammate sits), shot-zone, play-type and team defense. Green marks a soft spot to attack, red a tough one.
  • Bet Smarter and Tools — a plain-English guide to hockey lines and money management, plus odds, no-vig, EV/Kelly and parlay calculators.

FAQ

Why does a stat say "not available"? Because no real source for it exists yet, and this site doesn't guess. Route participation and live player-prop odds are two examples right now.

How current is the data? Each page that pulls live data shows when it was last updated. Season stats and news refresh on request; projections, lines, and weather are pulled weekly.

Is this affiliated with the NFL, FanDuel, or any sportsbook? No. Team names, logos, and player likenesses are used for identification and commentary only.

How do I cancel Pro? Cancel anytime from the confirmation email Stripe sent when you subscribed (it includes a "manage subscription" link), or email us at the address below and we'll cancel it for you. You keep full access through the end of the period you already paid for — no partial-month refunds.

Terms of Service

Last updated: October 2026. By using The Spread Sports, you agree to the following. This section is plain-language, not a substitute for legal advice, and applies alongside the disclaimers above.

  • Eligibility. You must be 18 or older to use this site or hold a Pro membership. Betting-related research (odds, props, models, edges) is intended only for adults of legal wagering age where they live (21+ in most U.S. states), and you are responsible for knowing and following the law where you are.
  • Your account. Signing in requires a real account (email/password or Google sign-in). You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for anything done under your account.
  • Not a sportsbook, and not advice. We do not accept wagers, hold funds, or place bets for you. Projections, rankings, ratings (including TD Rating, Goal Rating and Opportunity ratings), models, "edge" and "expected value" figures, picks and lineup suggestions are informational estimates only. They can be wrong. DFS contests and sports betting involve real financial risk, and you are solely responsible for any entries, wagers, or decisions you make on FanDuel, DraftKings, or any other platform. Past results, including any record shown on Our Picks, do not guarantee future results. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call or text 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-522-4700) or visit ncpgambling.org.
  • Odds and third-party data. Prices, lines, props, scores and injury information come from third parties, change quickly, and may be delayed, incomplete or wrong by the time you read them. Always confirm the price and the rules with the sportsbook before you wager. Sportsbook names and logos belong to their owners; mentioning a book is not an endorsement or a referral.
  • No guarantee of accuracy. Data is sourced from the providers listed under "Data sources" and is provided "as is," without warranty. We label estimated data as estimated, but nothing on this site is guaranteed to be complete, current, or error-free.
  • Pro billing. Pro is $9.99/month or $100/year, billed on a recurring basis through Stripe until you cancel. New monthly subscriptions include a 30-day free trial; you won't be charged until it ends, and you can cancel before then to pay nothing. Canceling stops future billing; it does not refund the current billing period.
  • Free access. The fantasy tools (Waiver Wire, Start/Sit, Tier Board, Trade Analyzer, My Team, rankings, projections), injuries, news and the odds calculators are free, and the DFS lineup builder includes 2 free builds a week (the builder and rankings need a free account, no card required). The betting research (Props Edge, TD Matchups, Advanced stats, the Betting Labs, Our Picks, the NHL research and all NBA betting: player props, prop research, hit rates, the game model and NBA player profile research) is part of Pro, with a free preview of the top 3 on each page. NBA stats pages, schedule, injuries, news and the Season Predictor are free. Free access, and any trial, may be changed, limited, or discontinued at any time.
  • Acceptable use and ownership. The site, its ratings and its models are owned by The Spread Sports. You may use them for yourself and may share screenshots or short clips with credit to The Spread Sports. You may not scrape the site, resell or republish its data or ratings, or work around account, trial or usage limits.
  • Email notifications (optional). If you opt in under Settings, we'll email the address on your account about the topics you selected (news/injuries, rankings updates, your favorite teams, or site updates). Message frequency varies. Turn any topic off under Settings at any time to stop those emails. We are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Changes to the service. Features, sports covered, pricing, and these terms may change; continued use after a change means you accept the update.
  • Limitation of liability. The Spread Sports and its operator are not liable for any losses — financial or otherwise — arising from your use of this site or decisions made using its data. Some places do not allow certain limits, so they apply only as far as the law allows.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026. We collect the minimum needed to run the site, and we never sell your data:

  • Account info — your email address, and if you sign in with Google, the name and email Google shares with us. Used to identify your account, secure your sign-in, and enforce Pro/trial/free-tier limits.
  • Preferences (optional) — your email notification choices, favorite teams and look-and-feel settings (theme, colors) are stored with your account so they follow you between devices. Your email address is used solely to send the notifications you opted into, never sold or shared with third parties, and you can change or turn them off any time under Settings or Customize.
  • Usage data — your trial start date, current plan, and weekly DFS-build count, so free-tier limits and Pro status work correctly.
  • Content you save — things you personally enter, like custom Tier Board rankings, so they're there next time you sign in. Preferences such as starred players, selected tabs and filters are stored in your own browser (local storage) and never sent to us.
  • Payment information is never seen or stored by us. Pro payments are handled entirely by Stripe; we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, tied to your account by email.
  • Advertising and analytics measurement. We use Google Ads conversion measurement and Google Analytics 4 to learn whether our ads lead to Pro sign-ups and how the site is used. Google may set cookies or read an advertising identifier for this; it does not receive your payment details. In the United States this measurement is on by default and you can turn it off at any time with “Your Privacy Choices” in the footer or with Global Privacy Control; elsewhere it runs only if you opt in. You can also manage ad personalization in your Google account's ad settings or by blocking cookies in your browser. If you arrive from a Google ad and measurement is on, we store the ad-click identifier and campaign tags with your account for up to 90 days so a free trial or payment can be matched to the ad, and we delete them when you turn measurement off. When Stripe confirms a free trial or payment, our server sends Google Analytics an event with an anonymous identifier (and, only if you allowed analytics, a random account ID), never your name, email address or card details.
  • Display ads. Free pages may show a small, labeled ad served by Google AdSense. Ads load only after you accept cookies in the cookie banner (if you choose Reject, no ad code runs), and are never shown to Pro or trial members. Google and its ad partners may use cookies or an advertising identifier to serve and measure ads and, where you allow it, to personalize them; Google's own privacy policy describes this. You can change your choice any time with “Your Privacy Choices” in the footer, manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com, or block cookies in your browser. Projections

Weekly fantasy projections for every player, in PPR, 0.5 PPR or non-PPR. For weeks already played, the real result sits next to the projection. The matchup chip shows how soft or tough that week's opponent has been against the player's position โ€” green is a good matchup, red is a tough one. Click any player's name for their week-by-week breakdown.

Matchup:ToughSoft (good)ยท rank 1 = toughest, 32 = softest

Defense vs Position

How many fantasy points (or yards / touchdowns) each defense has allowed per game to every player at a position. Green = soft defense, a good matchup for the offense. Red = tough defense, a bad matchup. Click a position header to sort by it.

Tough (allows less)Soft (allows more)ยท

Totals are for the whole position, not per player โ€” e.g. every WR who played against that defense, summed per game. Rank 1 = toughest, 32 = softest. Early-season samples are small (one or two games per defense), so treat these as directional until more weeks are in.

Projection Scoreboard

How accurate were the projections? Every player who was projected and played is compared here โ€” the average miss, whether projections run high or low, the biggest beats and the biggest busts. Most sites never show you this. Click any dot or name for that player's full breakdown.

Projected vs actual

Dots above the dashed line scored more than projected; dots below scored less.

Start/Sit Scorer

Pick two to four players and get a call with the reasoning attached. Every input is pulled from real data: the week's projection, how soft or tough the opposing defense has been against that position, whether the player has been beating his projection, and how much work he's getting. Drag the weights to match how you play.

Projection: scored against a typical range for the position. Matchup: the opponent's rank against the position (1 = toughest, 32 = softest). Form: points per game above or below projection so far (ยฑ30% spans the bar). Usage: touches per game for RBs, targets per game for WRs and TEs, passing yards per game for QBs. Any factor with no data yet โ€” a bye week, or no games played โ€” is skipped and the score is re-weighted over the rest.

Tier Board

Offense only โ€” QB/RB/WR/TE. Pick a board below: Overall is one mixed ranking; QB/RB/WR/TE are separate, independently-saved tier lists for that position alone, the way most fantasy sites actually publish rankings. Drag players into tiers โ€” drag them back to Unranked, or click โœ•, to remove them. Click a name for their full breakdown, or ๐Ÿ“ for a note. Each chip's small badge is that game's real weather and Vegas total โ€” hover it for the full line, and shows next week's PPR / 0.5 PPR / Standard projection, in that order. Once players are in their tiers, "Order tiers by projected points" sorts each tier on the current board by this week's projection in the format picked above (PPR, 0.5 PPR or Non-PPR); the small number on each chip is its rank inside the tier. To order just one tier, tap the small โ†• Pts button on that tier's label and every other tier stays as you arranged it. "Sync to Overall" rebuilds the Overall board from your QB/RB/WR/TE boards, ordered strictly by PPR points within each tier. "Send to Rankings" does the same merge and copies it onto the Rankings tab for the upcoming week, as numbered tiers (S=1 โ€ฆ D=5) with real PPR/Half/Standard points attached. "Graphic" saves the current board as a wide shareable image; "Story" saves its S and A tiers as a vertical 1080ร—1920 card sized for TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube Shorts โ€” on the Claude app it opens your device's own share sheet, so you can send it straight to those apps. Everything above only saves to this browser until you click "Save for Everyone" โ€” that's the one that actually publishes the current board for every visitor to the site.

Floor / Ceiling Board

Every player in your DFS pool who has been matched to real season data gets a statistical floor and ceiling, not just a single projected number. Floor is a bad-week estimate; ceiling is a big-week estimate. The gap between them comes from how volatile that position typically is, blended with how volatile this specific player has actually been over the games he's played — a player with only a couple of games gets mostly the position's typical spread, and it narrows toward his own real pattern as more games come in. Use the safe-floor plays for cash games and double-ups; use the high-ceiling plays when you're building a tournament lineup and want a real chance at a huge score, even if it sometimes busts.

Trade Analyzer

Build both sides of a trade and get a grade with the proof: a fairness meter, charts of rest-of-season outlook and recent scoring, a factor-by-factor tale of the tape, and plain-English reasons. Each player's trade value starts with their real rest-of-season projection (through Week 18), then gets a modest adjustment for how soft or tough their remaining schedule is and a discount for any current injury designation — the same data used everywhere else on the site, not a separate guess.
